Jeff Greenwald, TJRS Founder & Head Instructor
Jeff Greenwald has a lifetime of experience with Eastern culture, especially that of Japan. He has practice Japanese martial
arts since the age of 9 and has been involved with Japanese Esoteric Buddhism since the age of 18. Jeff began his education with alternative therapies
as a small child being taught Herbalism by his father who was half Native American. He went on to learn Usui Shiki Ryoho at age 18 to the 'master' level
and later learned Usui Reiki Ryoho to the highest level (Shichidan). His resume includes over 1200 hours of training in both formal schools
of bodywork as well as Traditional teachers, focusing on Eastern modalities of bodywork. His quest for knowledge has led him around the world where he studied European Massage in Kaunas Lithuania.
Jeff received National Certification in Massage and Bodywork in the year 2005 and has led a private practice since 2004. He specailizes in
Womens Health and Wellness as well as Somatic Psychology forms of bodywork. Jeff is a certified Clinical Hypnotherapist and professional course designer and trainer.
Jeff founded the TJRS over a decade ago with the purpose of carrying on the Tradition of Usui Reiki Ryoho as it was entrusted to him. One of the reasons for establishing the TJRS, for Jeff, was seeing the world of Western Reiki decimating his Tradition into an unrecognizable construct that they know little about. How far can something change before it no longer resembles the original? For Jeff, he believes that Western Reiki has strayed far off course from the original path and purpose that Usui Mikao set out to achieve almost 100 years ago.
Jeff has a love of working with people and sharing his knowledge. The TJRS is an outgrowth of these ideals.
Jeff works in and around the Greater Pittsburgh area and surrounding suburbs.
Kortney O'Brian Berg, TJRS Shoden Member
Originally from Virginia Beach, VA. Kortney Graduate of Sentara School of Health Professions School of Surgical Technology.
After that she worked as a Certified Surgical Technologist for 9 years in the operating rooms of Virginia Beach General Hospital.
She later graduated Tidewater Community College with an Associate Degree in Applied Sciences. Kortney went on to graduate from Old Dominion University
with a Bachelor of Science degree. She is currently living in Monaca, PA.
Married with 2 beautiful children, Kortney is Catholic by choice. She has a sister who is an acupuncturist and a brother who is a skeptic. She changed her views on Western medicine after experiencing first hand acupuncture treatments that kept her from filling prescriptions for muscle relaxants and pain killers. She first received a Reiki treatment in my 20s; Reiki came back into focus through her sister who chose to explore the practice. Kortney felt the continuing pull towards "healthcare" but chose to explore more natural methods. For Kortney, Reiki has made all the pieces fall into place. By healing herself with the Usui Reiki Ryoho practices of Reiho and hand healing methods, she has been able to help others find balance. Her intention is to continue learning Reiki through all levels (and beyond).
Kortney works in and around the Beaver Valley / Monaca area.
